Decorate your salon with a Summer at Stevens theme! Think tropical, beach, lake life, road trip, or summer fun. Judging categories include Most Creative and Most Client Friendly. Watch for the Spirit Week KICK OFF POST on Band on July 11th and post a picture of the door you decorated!

Bring your favorite summer dish and enjoy team connection, food, and fun together. Wear summer neon colors and don’t forget team lunch photos!

Twin Day / Team Match Day

Wednesday


Match with your work bestie or salon team using coordinated colors, accessories, outfits, or hairstyles.

Floral Day

Thursday


Wear floral prints and bright summer colors. Each salon should take either a team selfie outside the salon or a summer-themed team photo.

Wear yellow or sunshine vibes and secretly encourage a teammate with notes, snacks, small gifts, or appreciation messages.

Bonus: post “Caught Being GREAT” shoutouts on BAND. Throughout Tuesday, encourage your coworkers and post a shoutout recognizing someone who demonstrated one of the GREATS values. Random participants will be awarded gift cards.

Growth – Who helped you learn something new?

Resilience – Who stayed positive through a busy or challenging day?

Empowerment – Who stepped up to help without being asked?

Accountability – Who consistently did the right thing?

Trust – Who was someone you could count on?

Service – Who went above and beyond for a customer or teammate?

Wear your favorite band or artist shirt with matching band hair (professional and appropriate only). Salons or stylists will also compete in the “Beat the Boss” Towel Folding Race and Cape Folding Relay.

Beat the Boss Challenge

Can you beat your GMs Sheila and Carol?

Fold 20 salon towels and 10 salon capes to Stevens standards as fast as possible.

Rules:

  • Record one continuous video (no edits or speed-ups).

  • Have someone announce "Ready, Set, Go!" and stop the timer when the last towel or cape is folded.

  • Towels and capes must be folded neatly to salon standards.

  • Submit your video to BAND by the end of Wednesday.


Wear Great Clips logo gear in green and white. Each salon will build and deliver a community basket to a local organization or charity using school supplies, pet donations, food shelf items, or nursing home care items/cards. The team should plan and gather supplies to deliver beforehand and pick an organzation or charity of their choice.

Wear jerseys and jeans while competing in fun salon challenges including the Fastest Workstation Reset and Blindfold Mannequin Haircut Challenge.

Event 1: Fastest Workstation Reset

Can your team reset a station to Stevens standards faster than anyone else?

Supplies

  • One workstation

  • Typical salon tools and supplies

  • Timer

  • Phone to record

Before You Start

Mess up the workstation as if a busy haircut has just finished:

  • Hair on the floor (optional)

  • Tools out

  • Products out

  • Cape unfolded

  • Towels used

  • Chair not reset

Challenge

On "Go!"
The stylist must:

  • Dispose of used materials

  • Sanitize tools according to salon standards

  • Fold and put away towels/capes

  • Return tools to their proper place

  • Wipe down the station

  • Sweep the floor

  • Reset the chair

  • Leave the station completely guest-ready

Rules

  • One continuous video

  • No edits

  • Follow all sanitation procedures

  • Station must be fully reset before the timer stops

Event 2: Blindfold Mannequin Haircut Challenge

Can your team communicate well enough to complete a haircut a full 90 degree haircut...without seeing?

Supplies

  • Mannequin

  • Cape

  • Comb

  • Spray bottle

  • Hair clips

  • Blindfold

Challenge

One stylist wears the blindfold or closes their eyes.

Another teammate acts as the coach and can ONLY use verbal instructions.

Examples:

  • "Move your hand higher."

  • "Comb the hair forward."

  • "Turn the mannequin."

  • "Clip the left side."

No touching or guiding the blindfolded stylist.

Time Limit: 7 minutes

Rules

  • One continuous video

  • No physical assistance

Judging

This one is all about entertainment! We’re looking to award things like:
Funniest Video
Best Coach
Best Teamwork
Best Finished Look

Video Submission Instructions

Every salon should upload their videos to BAND by the end of Friday.

Please include:

  • Salon name

  • Challenge name

  • Team members participating

  • Final time (if timed)

We encourage everyone to cheer each other on—the fun, teamwork, and laughs are just as important as the results!
